2005 Mid-Atlantic Wakeboard Series Dates Announced

February 15, 2005 • Glass & Powder Boardshop, Inc., today announced the first dates of their renowned Mid-Atlantic Wakeboard Series. The event series, which started in 1999, has grown to be the longest running wakeboarding event series on the East Coast. This year Glass & Powder brings its traveling events to three lakes in Virginia and North Carolina, with tentative plans for more professional clinics and demo’s at the Chickahominy River just east of Richmond, VA.

The events are structured more like “Festivals” than competitive “contests” or “tournaments”. More emphasis is put on having fun and experiencing the sport, the products, and the culture than on winning prizes. Glass & Powder accomplishes this by making sure that every participating rider gets a bag full of prizes at the end of the day! Sponsors from all over the world contribute products so that each rider brings home more value in prizes than they spent to enter the contest. In addition, Glass & Powder Boardshop raffles off the large prizes, which makes the awards ceremony even more interesting. A rider could conceivably come in last place and still win a brand new wakeboard. Entry fees for each event are at the same modest $35 price that they were in 1999. The dates and locations for this year’s events are:

June 4th - Smith Mountain Lake (Westlake Waterfront Inn, Indian Point Marina)

July 9th - Lake Anna (Lake Anna State Park, Picnic Area B)

July 23rd - Lake Gaston (Edwards Beach)

August 6th - Smith Mountain Lake (Westlake Waterfront Inn, Indian Point Marina)

August 27th - Lake Anna (Lake Anna State Park, Picnic Area B)

September 10th • Lake Gaston (Edwards Beach)

In addition to the wakeboarding festivals, Glass & Powder will also be bringing numerous top-ten wakeboarding professionals to town for clinics and demonstrations. Andrew Adkison, the current World Champion, is now riding on the Glass & Powder team and will be offering a clinic day TBA. Leslie Kent is currently the #7 female in the world and will be instructing two days of ladies-only clinics TBA. Visit the Events page of glassandpowder.com for more information as events are announced.

Sponsors for this years’ Mid-Atlantic Wakeboard Series include the title sponsor and co-host of the events, Cutting Edge Watersports, in addition to headline sponsor Liquid Force and 50 other national and international companies.
