Pro Wakeboard Tour Coming to Reno

Reno, NV - The biggest event in the sport of wakeboarding is heading to the Reno-Sparks area when the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour, presented by Chevrolet and GM Vortec engines, comes to town June 4-6. This marks the first time a Pro Wakeboard Tour event has been held in Reno-Sparks area. Sparks Marina will be the site for this, the third stop on the Pro Wakeboard Tour's 2004 schedule. The Pro Wakeboard Tour is presented locally by the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority (RSCVA).

Reno-Tahoe, America's Adventure Place, is promoting the tour stop to build local interest and to continue positioning as a leading outdoor and gaming destination. But this event will have a decidedly international feel with qualifying for the 2004 X Games leading off the weekend on Friday, June 4. The world's top pro wakeboarders, men and women will be competing for the coveted spots in the X Games which will be held in Los Angeles August 6-7, 2004.

With all the top pro wakeboarders sure to attend, look for plenty of action at Sparks Marina headlined by 2004 Pro Wakeboard Tour Season Champion Parks Bonifay. Bonifay will be challenged by 2004 World Cup Champion Darin Shapiro and Danny Harf, the 2003 X Games and National Champion will also be gunning for the top spot.

While Bonifay, Harf and Shapiro dominate the pro men's division, there will plenty of other entertainment in Reno. The world's top pro women's competitors will also be in action led by Dallas Friday, X Games, National and World champion in 2003. Friday won all but one women's pro wakeboarding event in 2003 and is considered one of the top competitors in all of action sports.

Also on tap is the growing sport of wakeskating, the watersport equivalent of skateboarding. Reno will host the world's top wakeskaters as part of the Pro Wakeboard Tour in the SeaDoo watercraft Pro Wakeskate series.

Also on the slate in Reno is one of the most successful developmental tours in all of action sports, the MasterCraft Junior X Series where wakeboarding's next generation prepares for the big time. See tomorrow's pros compete today!

After Reno, the Pro Wakeboard Tour will continue throughout North America with two additional stops including: Kelowna, British Columbia Canada, June 9-11 and the final event in Irvine, California July 17-18.
