Abbotsford, B.C. – The Men’s Wakeboarding Final at Albert Dyck Park provided a fitting end to the 2001 Pro Wakeboard Tour Season. Parks Bonifay made it four wins in a row and left no doubt he is the Pro Tour Season Champion.
The riders making their way into the final represented a nice mix of proven professionals along with the next generation of pro riders.
Bonifay, Shaun Murray and Zane Schwenk made their way into the final, where they were challenged by Froggy Soven, Trevor Hansen and Danny Harf. Harf and Hansen are the senior members of the trio at the age of 16, and Soven is the sports youngest pro at 12.
But, experience won out on the day as Bonifay took the top spot and was joined on the podium by veterans Schwenk and Daniel Watkins who took second and third respectively.
On the year, Bonifay took the Season Championship, Shapiro finished second and Murray was thrid.
Bonifay was jubilant after the victory. "I want to thank everybody for this victory," said Bonifay. "This has been the best year on the Tour for me and most of the guys. I can’t wait for next year."
