Seven days, one short week, till we roll out the biggest wakeboarding event the Midwest has ever seen. Midwest Wake Fest 2003 is getting set to go off again at Four Star Marina on the Illinois River on July 18th. Last year was huge and will be tough to beat…but we are committed to making 2003 better than ever. So here we go.
Friday - Demos from many of our equipment sponsors, including wakeboards from Joyride and Tubelite; wakesurf boards from Inland Surfer and Trick Boardz; boats from Calabria, Nautique and Centurion. Please note that this is only a partial list, more details will be available on-site.
Saturday – Roll out early to sample more of the great water that the Starved Rock Pool of the Illinois has to offer. Be sure to enter the Wake Fest Raffle early and often, as a lot of great stuff will be given away all day long. Saturday afternoon will bring wakeskate competition, so get on them now and get to work on your money tricks. Winner will take home a new skate, and no one leaves the skate comp empty handed. Late in the afternoon, we’ll also roll out the Wake Fest double-up competition. Riders, register early for this one, as we’ll only take the first 15 riders. Winner goes home with a new board, and again, no one leaves empty handed.
Saturday night is going to go off at the Four Star Patio Bar with the Hooligans playing till 1am and the party raging on till the last man stands. We’ll raffle away a ton more stuff, great gear from all of our sponsors, soft goods, videos, helmets, truckloads of stuff. We are out to top our own record for stuff given away in a single weekend!
Sunday – Ride Ride Ride!! If your arms didn’t fall off from riding yesterday (or carrying your schwag away from the patio), get to work on that. Sooooo many miles of great water…you definitely haven’t seen it all yet. Just ride. Also for the ladies, Wakechicks.com’s own Tiffany Landry will be on hand for the “Ladies Only Boat(s)”. Ladies, this is your time to shine, without the presence of any male testosterone.
A few notes on Four Star and the Illinois:
Camp sites for the weekend are available for a very reasonable fee ($25) that includes ramp privileges. Plenty of waterfront sites are available. Slips will again be made available for our use. When you arrive, check in at the bar for campsites and slips. A fuel dock is available at the marina. Some trailer set-ups didn’t work well on the Four Star boat ramp last year. Good news, the ramp has been repaired! Some props didn’t work well with the Corps of Engineer’s wing dams last year. Good news, the wing dams will be clearly marked this year! Four Star has package beer and liquor available. Please do our most generous sponsor the courtesy of picking up your goodies for the weekend on-site. Also available at the bar is an excellent menu. American Grill type fare – sandwiches, fries, soda. You get the idea, support Four Star in every way you can.
