Orlando, FL - Wake Boarding magazine, the definitive source for all things wakeboarding including professional instruction, gear, boats and the latest news, celebrates its 10th anniversary with the June 2003 collectors issue titled "10 Years Strong -- The Special Anniversary Issue."
This issue, at 212 pages the biggest ever compiled by the magazine's staff, covers the history of the sport, featuring FrontRunners -- the influential athletes who have shaped it -- a complete timeline of Wake Boarding's history, and sections on early gear, Best Letters of the Decade and Where Are They Now.
An in-depth interview with Darin Shapiro exposes the most decorated competitor in wakeboarding. Shapiro has been influential in shaping the wakeboarding industry through his high-profile riding and consistent success in competition.
There is also The Wake Tech Story, profiling the pioneering wakeboard company that helped propel the sport from its origins as an offshoot of skiing to its place in the board-sports market today.
"Looking back over the last 10 years, it's obvious to me that wakeboarding is like the Olsen twins - it keeps getting better with age," said Wake Boarding's Editor, Matt Hickman. "Lucky for us there were some guys in The Beginning who had foresight enough to give wakeboarding a voice by creating WBM. This project was a great reminder not to forget where we came from."
Wake Boarding magazine is produced in Winter Park, Florida, and published nine times a year by World Publications. In addition to Wake Boarding, World publishes 13 other special-interest magazines, including WaterSki, Boating Life, and Kiteboarding. You can also subscribe to Wakeboarding Magazine online.
