Pro Tour Kicks Off in Orlando

Orlando, FL - The MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour presented by Chevy Trucks and GM Vortec engines begins its 2003 season just outside Orlando in Altamonte Springs, Florida at Cranes Roost Park April 12-13.

As the unofficial hometown of wakeboarding, the Orlando Pro Wakeboard Tour stop attracts the top competitors in the world. Look for perennial favorites such as Darin Shapiro, Parks Bonifay and 2003 Indmar Pro Tour Season Champion Erik Ruck to mix it up in the Pro Men's Division. In the Pro Women's Division presented by Barts WaterSports the battle will feature 2003 World Champion Tara Hamilton, 2003 National Champion Dallas Friday and 2003 X Games Champion Emily Copeland.

The Pro Men and Women are the top divisions in wakeboarding, but that will not be the only action on the water. The MasterCraft Junior X Series will return for its second season. The Junior X Series features the top junior men in the world, polishing their skills before making a jump to the pro level. Over the years, the junior ranks have provided many top pro wakeboarders including Danny Harf, Froggy Soven, Keith Lyman and Tino Santori.

Wakeskating makes its debut as a Tour in 2003 with the Sea-DooŽ Pro Wakeskate Series. This is where past Pro Tour stars like Scott Byerly and Thomas Horrell will make their return. Rising wakeskate stars Brian Grubb and Drew McGuckin will join them. This event will take place at each Pro Wakeboard Tour event with a $5,000 prize purse courtesy of Sea-Doo watercraft.

Wakeskating has been catching on over the past few years and is seen as the evolution of the sport of wakeboarding with roots in both skateboarding and surfing. Athletes ride a board on water with no bindings, wearing skateboarding shoes instead.

As with every year, when the riders take a break on the water there will be plenty to do on land to keep everyone busy. All the latest gear in the sport of wakeboarding will be on display including boats, wakeboards, wakeskates, sunglasses, swimming apparel and more.

In 2003, the Pro Wakeboard Tour continues to provide affordable fun for the whole family. For little more than the cost of a movie ticket, $10 for adults and $5 for children 10-under, crowds are treated to a full day of live entertainment from the top athletes in one of the world's fastest growing sports.

The MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour, presented by Chevy Trucks and GM Vortec Engines, is a five-event circuit organized by World Sports & Marketing of Orlando, Florida. Powered by Indmar, the Pro Tour has the support of the
following: Bud Light, 180 Energy Drink, SeaDoo watercraft, Hyperlite, Perfect Pass, Activision, Liquid Force, Epiphone Guitars, CWB, OJ Props, Gator Boards, Chipper Beef Jerky, Earthboard, Bare Wetsuits, buywake.com, Billabong, Love Sac, Body Glove, Capix Helmets, JoyRide, 3thriteen, Indo Boards, One Percent Designs and Barts Water Sports.
