With less than a month to go before LSF ’02 the final schedule is getting close. Location of LSF ’02 is at Lazarre Point recreation area in West Monroe; the dates are April 25-28. Lazarre Point is about 14 miles south of Moon Lake. From Lazarre Point boat dock there is 35 miles of uninhabited water going south, which makes for miles of water for everyone to ride on.
Directions
Off of I-20 coming from Texas, take the 5th Street exit and turn right, go to the stop sign at the T and turn left, go to the next stop sign and turn right into Lazarre Point Recreation area.
Off of I-20 coming from the Mississippi, take the 5th Street exit. After crossing the river, turn left, then go to the stop sign at the T and turn left. Go to the next stop sign and turn right into Lazarre Point Recreation area.
There is a boat ramp at the site. All of the activities and camping will be to the south of the ramp.
Competition Format
The competition format has been set. Competitors will leave the dock and hit the kicker then get a double up. If a competitor falls off the kicker they will be picked up and still get a double up.
First place prize money of $2,000.00 is up for grabs; prizes will be given to everyone that enters the competition. Entry fee for the competition will be $40.00 per competitor with a limit of 30 competitors. All competitors must wear an approved wakeboard helmet. Information
In talking with our local Wildlife and Fisheries agents over the past summer, they have given me some recommendations that will save everyone some heartache, including all of us that love to ride and the local houseboat owners. They have asked that I pass on to everyone to be respectful of the houseboat owners along the river. If you happen to pass by a houseboat docked along side the river try to pass on the opposite side of the river, in the areas where there are several houseboats together, or on both sides of the river those are No-Wake zones. If you want to avoid the houseboats, when leaving the boat dock at Lazarre Point you can head south on the river, there is 35 miles of uninhibited water to ride in. If you head North from Lazarre Point you will run into a few No Wake zones before you get to a good riding area.
Hotels
Because of the site move for LSF ’02 I have found a few motels that are a little more convenient to Lazarre Point. The new motels are all off the Thomas Road Exit in West Monroe. Close to these Motels are also several eating-places such as the Outback, Lone Star, Chilis, Bennigans, El Chico, Cracker Barrel, Hooters and all the favorite fast food places. Also they all have adequate boat parking as well.
Best Western, Thomas Rd. West Monroe, (318) 322-9922 has rooms available for $62.96. Rooms have two queen beds, refrigerator and coffee makers. Be sure to mention LSF if you going to stay here.
Red Roof Inn Constitution Dr, West Monroe, (318) 388-2420 has rooms from 35.99-54.99 depending on number of people in the room. This motel is right across from the Best Western.
Fairfield Inn, Constitution Dr, West Monroe, (318) 388-3810 has rooms for $64.00. The Fairfield is right between Hooters and the Cracker Barrel, Chili’s and the Outback.
A couple more motels I did not call but are in the same area: Shoney’s Inn (318) 325-5780 – Baymont Inn (318) 387-2711.
Camping and RV’s
There will be camping and RV space available on site at Lazarre Point on the 25th, 26th and 27th. The cost is a flat rate for all three nights of $20.00 per tent or $30.00 per camper or RV. There are not any hookups or power connections for the RV’s. The site has bathrooms but no showers. The cost is to help pay for the security on site.
I am currently working on local RV rentals and will release any information as soon as I get it.

Wednesday April 24
For any of you that plan on coming in early, there will be a lot of free riding going on and hanging out at Lazarre Point. Feel free to stop by.
Thursday April 25 12:00 till dusk
Demo Day and Free Ride. Come check out the latest boards and bindings from Core, Hyperlite, Liquid Force, Nice Bindings. Orgin Boards and Serum. Also check out the Skireel that will be used on the demo boats.
Friday April 26 10:00 am till Dusk
Demo Day and Free Ride. For those of you that cannot get in on Thursday, you will have a chance to try out the newest equipment or catch some good sets on the river.
You can catch Pro Riders Leslie Kent, Shane Bonifay and Shawn Watson at Gus Campbell Watersports from 7:00-9:00pm. Directions to Gus Campbell Watersports will be available on site. There will be a Friday night party at the pavilion at Lazarre Point, with special guest DJ’s on site playing tunes. It will be a great time to hang out with everyone and socialize.
Correction: Shane Bonifay and Shawn Watson will be in Friday evening and be at Gus Campbell Watersports till 9pm.
Saturday April 27
Free ride/Ladies only Boat/Competition Day
The for sure don’t want to miss day for the year. Lots of riding, hanging around the vendors tents with everyone at Lazarre Point and Tiffany and Lauren will again be doing the Ladies only boat for the second year. And that’s not it, at 1:00 pm the competition begins with $2,000 bones up for grabs. And still more to come, after the competition, the annual drawings will begin. Later, Boomerang will be playing on site from 6:00 pm till 11:00 pm.
