PWT Day Two Results: Women's Wakeboarding Takes Over Acworth Today

Acworth, Ga. - For the first time ever pro women's wakeboarding will be featured at five stops on the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour, beginning in Acworth. With that being said, 20 of the world's top female rippers kicked off the festivities today at the second day of the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour at Dallas Landing Park in Acworth.
The Pro Women's Division were first off the dock today in the quarterfinal round of the contest, where only the top-two riders from each of the five heats advanced to the semifinals. There in the semifinals, the top-10 riders battled it out on the water, sending four riders home packing.
Nicola Butler (UK), Emily Copeland Durham (USA), Shelby Kantar (USA), Amber Wing (AUS), Haley Smith (AUS) and Dallas Friday (USA) will meet tomorrow in the Pro Women's Division finals. Butler posted a perfect run in both her quarterfinal and semifinal heat. Copeland Durham took home the win in Acworth last year and will look to repeat in 2008.
The Pro Men's Division battled it out on the water today in their Round of 40. Half the competition was eliminated in today's contest, as only the top-two riders from each of the 10 heats advanced to tomorrow's quarterfinals. Among today's heat leaders were Josh Sanders (AUS) and Phillip Soven (USA), who both posted perfect runs. Sanders and Soven will be joined by 18 other riders in tomorrow's quarterfinals.
2007 MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour champion Phillip Soven captured the win in Acworth last year and looks to once again win in the Peach State.
Wakeboarding's future stars took to the water today in the Jr. Men’s Division quarterfinals. Only the top-two riders from each of the five heats today advanced past the second round of the contest, eliminating half of the competition. Tomorrow, the 10 remaining riders will meet in the semifinals before the top four rippers compete in the finals.
AJ Racinelli (USA) took the top spot in Acworth in 2007 and looks to repeat this year, as the California ripper advanced past today's quarterfinals.
The third and final day of the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour will be jammed-pack with wakeboard action, as Pro Men, Pro Women and Jr. Men all vie for the top spot in tomorrow's finals. All the action begins at 10:00 a.m.
Acworth is the first of five stops on the 2008 MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour. Following Acworth, the Tour will visit Forth Worth, Tex. (May 30-June 1), Twin Cities, Minn. (June 7-8), Phoenix, Ariz. (June 28-29) and wraps-up in Reno, Nev. (July 11-13).
