LSF 2002 Press Release

By Jeff Southworth

The dates have been set; LSF ’02 will go off April 25-28 at Moon Lake Marina in Monroe, Louisiana. How is $2,000.00 of guaranteed prize money for the winner(s) of the competition(s) to take place? That’s right $2,000.00 of guaranteed prize money! You will not want to miss Saturdays competition(s). There will definitely be a Double Up comp and possibly a kicker comp. Look for the final announcement for the competition(s) to be made soon.

Information
First off I would like to thank Marty “McFly” Head for starting the LSF tradition, it has been a great event for the last few years and it is my hope that we can continue the tradition of making LSF bigger and better. With the creation of the Louisiana Wakeboard Association it will enable the tradition to continue on for years to come.

In talking with our local Wildlife and Fisheries agents over the past summer, they have given me some recommendations that will save everyone some heartache, including all of us that love to ride and the local houseboat owners. They have asked that I pass on to everyone to be respectful of the houseboat owners along the river. The river runs for miles in each direction, so there is plenty of water to ride in, you will run out of gas before you see it all. If you happen to pass by a houseboat docked along side the river try to pass on the opposite side of the river, in the areas where there are several houseboats together, or on both sides of the river those are NO-Wake zones. If you want to avoid most the houseboats, when leaving Moon Lake if you head right (north) on the river it will be awhile before you run into a NO-Wake zone, leaving plenty of good water to ride in.

Hotels
The Holidome has a couple of groups booked this year for the dates of LSF but are holding 25 rooms for LSF ’02. They have a mix of kings and doubles for $70.00 per night. Be sure to mention Louisiana Spring Fling when reserving your rooms. You can call the Holidome at (318) 387-5100. If they have more rooms come available at a later date I will let everyone know. If you cannot get a room at the Holidome a couple more good locations will be the Hampton Inn and the Comfort Inn. They are located at the corner of I-20 and Hwy 165, just south of the interstate from the Holidome.

The Hampton Inn is offering rates of $69.00/night. You can call them at (318) 361-9944. Be sure to mention Louisiana Spring Fling if you call to make reservations. The Hampton is an exterior hotel and has continental breakfast.

The Comfort Inn is offering rates of $72.00/night. You can call them at (318) 410-1005. Be sure to call Sue Patel and mention Louisiana Spring Fling for reservations. The Comfort Inn is an interior hotel. The Comfort Inn has continental breakfast and free drinks in the evenings for guests.

Camping and RV’s
Camping and RV spots are available again at Moon Lake Marina just like every year. You can call Joey Neitz at (318) 322-2300 and he will take care of you. You can be right in the center of all the activities by staying at the Marina Campground. We are currently working on local RV rentals and should have information for everyone soon.
