Rusty Malinoski Wins Tige Pro-Am Wakeboard Championships in Marathon – Santori Hangs on to Win King
Santori is now considered the world's No. 1 rider for 2006 thanks to his King of Wake championship. The season-long championship points chase encompasses the top nine events on the professional circuit with today's Tige Championships the final stop of the year. Santori finishes with 1,340 points just 24 points ahead of the fast-rising Malinoski's 1,316. Andrew Adkison finished third just one point behind Malinoski at 1,315.
A "skins" format, where riders continue to accumulate points for skins as long as they keep winning, was used this weekend in Marathon. The rider with the most wins or skins will be declared the winner. Malinoski took home four skins for the win. JD Webb finished second with two skins winning the tie-breaker with third –place finisher Shawn Watson who also won two skins.
