KC Watersports: New sliders, new partners, and the LF Slide Show
 
The new season is underway at KC Watersports and big things are on the horizon. New sliders, new partners, and new events are on tap for the 2006 season.

The early weeks of May has seen the arrival of the new Spy Optic kicker-rail. This simple but unique structure is destined to be a favorite for wakeskaters. KCW has partnered with Rip Curl to build a new floating kinked rail. Also new this year is the Liquid Force C-Rail. The new LF rail was inspired by snowboard rails and should be a challenge for all. Look for this rail this summer.

The events kick off on May 19th & 20th when KC Watersports, Sitzmark Sports and Liquid Force Wakeboards combine to present the Slide Show at the 810 Zone Restaurant in Leawood, Kansas. This is your chance to see the top riders in the world at the Midwest’s biggest rail jam. Come meet pros Shane Bonifay, Shawn Watson, Aaron Reed, Kevin Henshaw, Mike Ennen, Gregg Necrason,Melissa Marquardt, and Lauren Loe, and enjoy the awesome atmosphere of the 810 Zone. The highlight of the Slide Show will feature local riders competing to win a trip to Houston and compete in the Slide Show Championship. The show will run Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. On June 14th – 16th KC Watersports will host the Liquid Force Maven series. This nation wide program is designed to encourage women to wakeboard. Top professional female riders will lead clinics at the KC Watersports Cable Park and behind the boat at nearby Hillsdale Lake.

June keeps rolling along with the Kansas City Riverfest. KC Watersports and Skiers Wharf Extreme will be conducting a wakeboarding exhibition during the Riverfest. Riders will be wakeboarding on the Missouri River and riding the rails in the winch pools. Pro riders from Nautiques will lead the show. Visit www.kcriverfest.com for more information.

On July 7th and 8th KC Watersports will host the biggest event in the park’s history. The Cable Classic will feature a pro level slider competition along with a cable style tournament. Top prize in the No Fear Wakeskate Division is a Gold Grinch wakeskate winch. Top prize in the Toyota Pro Wakeboard Division is a tricked-out 50 motorcycle. The slider competition will be on Friday the 7th. Saturday the 8th will feature a cable wakeboard and wakeskate competition for all level of riders.

The second annual “It’s On” weekly competition series begins Tuesday July 18 and runs every Tuesday for four weeks. This series is a great format for riders of all levels to improve their skills.
