U.S. Wakeboard Team Earns Bronze Medal

Meagan Ethell won the Open Women gold medal.The U.S. Wakeboard Team earned the world team bronze medal and five U.S. athletes earned individual medals at the 11th IWWF Wakeboard World Championships, Oct. 27-31, at the spectacular new Mayan Water Complex in Cancun, Mexico. Italy won the gold medal, while Australia earned the silver medal. Divisions for competition at the 2015 IWWF Wakeboard World Championships were as follows (all ages taken as of Jan. 1, 2015): Boys/Girls (14 and Under); Junior Men/Junior Women (18 and Under); Masters Men/Masters Women (30 Years and Over); Veteran Men (40 Years and Over); and Open Men/Open Women (Open). For the first time at an International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation world-titled event, a cash purse was available for Open riders totaling $50,000.
 

11th IWWF Wakeboard Worlds Underway

10 Riders Selected To U.S. Wakeboard Team

Clifford, Bryant Win World Cup Titles

Raimi Merritt finished runner-up in women's wakeboarding.Australia's Harley Clifford and Great Britain's Charlotte Bryant won the men's and women's wakeboard titles, respectively on Sunday at the YiHe Open Wakeboard Championships in Linyi, China. Some of the world’s top wakeboard riders competed for titles and cash prizes in the IWWF Wakeboard World Cup event. U.S. athlete Raimi Merritt (Orlando, Fla.) finished runner-up in women’s wakeboarding. Daniel Powers (Orlando, Fla.) was the top U.S. rider in the men’s division, placing seventh.

Cable Wakeboard Loses Out On 2020 Bid

Baseball and softball, karate, squash, bowling, roller sports, climbing, surfing and wushu are the eight sports nominated for the next stage of the application process to be added to the sports program for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, it has been confirmed by the International Waterski & Wakeboard Federation. Cable wakeboarding did not make the cut.
