The journey began back in July when riders qualified from 13 different cable parks for the honor to compete in the 2012 National Points Championship. With over 220 registrations the National Points Championship will be the largest wakeboard competition of the year. Not just cable but largest wakeboard competition held in the United States for the second year in a row. With new cable parks popping up all over the country this is a trend that tournament organizer Blake Hess, doesn’t see changing anytime soon. “The parks make it so easy for riders to get involved, and with the support from so many parks across the country the growth has been and will continue to be amazing.”

In just a few days the National Points Championship will begin at BSR, one of the countries newest cable parks, located in Waco, Texas. BSR is the ideal host with a beautiful park, a wonderful staff, and centrally located in the middle of Texas within a two hour drive from 5 other cable parks. The organizers of the Points Chase series have organized the event so riders compete individually like they would at any other competition, but also accrue team points to help their home park possibly win the Team Award. TSR has had a stranglehold on the team title but saw it’s lead dwindle from 600 points in 2010 to just 20 points in 2011. This year many of the Texas teams will be fielding a full team of riders so we expect a shoot out, right down to the end.

Also part of the weekend festivities is a $7500 Structure Only Wakeboard event. One of the most exciting divisions of the weekend, you definitely won’t want to miss the packed heats of riders competing simultaneously. The event would not be possible without the help from our sponsors: Parson’s Roofing, BSR, Jobe, O’Brien, CTRL and Liquid Force.
