Spy Optic Clint Sunglasses Review

Spy Clint SunglassesBy: Pat McCarthy

Spy Optic Sunglasses supports wakeboarding in a big way with a pro team that features some of the best riders in the sport. They also make some great pairs of shades, so Wakeboarder.com took a pair for a test drive.

The Spy Optic pro wakeboard team consists of:

  • Parks Bonifay
  • Shane Bonifay
  • Danny Harf
  • Tino Santori
  • Chad Sharpe

Spy Optic is located in San Diego and the employees regularly wakeboard, skate, surf, and snowboard.

All Spy Sunglasses are designed in San Diego and hand-crafted in Italy. Each faded color is hand-painted, as well as each log. All Spy lenses protect your eyes 100% from UVA, UVB, and UVC rays.

For this review, we specifically checked out the Spy Clint Sunglasses. The Clint's are listed in Danny Harf's bio as being his favorite type of Spy Shades.

The Clint's are a sporty style of sunglasses that fit the look of a wakeboarder well. They have squared off lines, a dual nose bridge, a proprionate chassis, and 8-base ARC Prismatic polycarbonate or CR-39 lenses.

What that all means we're not sure, but we can say that they fit great, are light-weight, and really have the feel of a high quality pair of sunglasses.

What stands out most about the Clint style may be some of the unique color combinations you can get. A few of the different combinations are:

  • Black with Yellow Fade
  • White with Bronze Fade
  • Mocha Fade with Bronze and Gold Gradient Mirror
  • Black Gloss with Grey Polarized Lenses
  • Clear Smoke Grey with Silver Gradient
  • Matte Black with Graphite
  • Black Fade with Black Clear Fade

Spy makes a number of other styles of men's and women's sunglasses, so don't feel constrained to the Clint's. But let it be known that they are both Danny Harf's favorites, and mine.
