Glass and Powder Announces Record Number of Sponsors

May 26, 2004 - Glass & Powder Boardshop, Inc., today announced the addition of another 22 sponsors, bringing the grand total to 55 national sponsors for their renowned Mid-Atlantic Wakeboard Series. The event series, which started in 1999, has grown to be the longest running wakeboarding event series on the East Coast. This year Glass & Powder brings its traveling events to three lakes in Virginia and North Carolina, as well as the Chickahominy River just east of Richmond, VA.

The events are structured more like ³Festivals² than competitive ³contests² or ³tournaments². More emphasis is put on having fun and experiencing the sport, the products, and the culture than on winning prizes. Glass & Powder accomplishes this by making sure that every participating rider gets a bag full of prizes at the end of the day! Sponsors from all over the world contribute the latest, greatest products in the wakeboarding industry to stoke out the kids and adults that ride in the contests. Each rider brings home more value in prizes than they spent to enter the contest, making it a ³win-win² situation. In addition, Glass & Powder Boardshop raffles off the large prizes, which makes the awards ceremony even more interesting. A rider could conceivably come in last place and still win a brand new wakeboard. Entry fees for each event are at the same modest $35 price that they were in 1999. The first event at Smith Mountain Lake kicks off at Mariners Landing on June 5th.

In addition to the wakeboarding festivals, Glass & Powder is also bringing three top-ten wakeboarding professionals to town for clinics and demonstrations. Andrew Adkison is currently ranked #7 in the world and was the ³Rookie of the Year² two seasons ago. He will be in Richmond June 27th for a one-day only clinic/demo for CWB Wakeboards. Leslie Kent is currently the #4 female in the world and will be instructing two days of ladies-only clinics on June 15th and 16th. At the end of July, Shawn Watson, will be here in July for a one-day only clinic/demo. Shawn is currently ranked #4 in the world, and was at Glass & Powder last year for a similar event that was incredibly popular with beginners and advanced riders alike.

Sponsors for this years¹ Mid-Atlantic Wakeboard Series include the title sponsor and co-host of the events, Mastercraft/Ski Boats Unlimited, in addition to headline sponsor Liquid Force and all of the following: Arnette, Aaron Chang, ADD Distribution, Airboom, Alliance Magazine, Ally Distribution, Banzai, Billabong, Blink, Boss Accessories, Clive, CWB, Dragon, Fox, Freestyle, Fusion, Gator Boards, Gravis, Hot Buttered, Hurley, Hyperlite, Independent, Jet Pilot, Legend Eyewear, Lucy Love, The Lunch Program, Newt Juice, Oakley, O¹Neill, Protec, Quiksilver, Radio Fiji, Rainbow, Raisins, Reef, Roxy, Rusty, Smith, Spy, Sidewayz, Straightline, Sunsets Separates, Vans, Vew-Do Balance Boards, Video Action Sports, Wakeboard Magazine, and many more.
