Bonifay and Friday Win at Ft. Worth Vans Stop

Vans Wakeboard Press Release

Ft. Worth, TX - Parks Bonifay reaffirmed that he is one of the best in the business in the Finals of the Vans Wakeboarding Pro, the first stop of the Vans Triple Crown of Wakeboarding Series at Marine Creek in Ft. Worth. Dallas Friday proved that this city is indeed charmed for her, winning for a second time in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in less than a year.

Bonifay, who won the 2001 Vans Triple Crown of Wakeboarding Series Championship, took home top honors in the Pro Men's competition of the Vans Wakeboarding Pro. Bonifay's former roommate and 2002 MasterCraft Pro Tour and Mountain Dew WWA Wakeboard World Champion Erik Ruck finished second and Danny Harf finished third.

Friday took the top spot in the Pro Women's division ahead of Lauren Loe of Texas and Emily Copeland.

Bonifay was the last rider off the dock in the Pro Men's Final. He threw together a strong run, and in the end the difference was in the double-up. Parks pulled out all the stops, landing his patented double half cab to seal the victory over Ruck who rode earlier in the heat and was sitting in first place until Bonifay's run.

For Friday, there was no doubt after her run who would win the competition. She went bigger and did more tricks than the rest of the field. Friday was even the only woman to slider over the Ford Ranger truck obstacle.

In the SeaDoo personal watercraft Pro Wakeskate Series Brian Grubb took top honors, placing ahead of Aaron Reed and Thomas Horrell who placed second and third respectively.

The Vans Triple Crown of Wakeboarding* and the Vans Wakeboard Pro presented by Ford Trucks and Mountain Dew are made possible through the support of the Xbox(tm) video game system from Microsoft, Right Guard Xtreme, Fox Sports Net and NBC Sports. The Vans Triple Crown(tm) Series features the world's top athletes participating in premier venues throughout North America for the top prize purse in each of six Core Sports(tm) disciplines: Skateboarding, Wakeboarding, BMX, Freestyle Motocross, Surfing and Snowboarding.
