New Braunfels, TX - The FreeZride event is the first event of the year hosted by Texas Ski Ranch and will feature some of the top riders in the region. On the last weekend in February we will have all the events back from last year and also have a new and exciting event from Under 360, the Polar Grind. Other Events will include cable lake and boat lake wakeboard competitions, the 2006 Spring Fashion show, and live music. Also new for 2006, the skatepark will be open to the public and included in the $5 admission fee.
A new addition for 2006 will be Under 360s' Polar Grind, an event like none other. A new high-speed winch provided by Under 360 (www.under360.com) will be used to pull the riders. This is a new and exciting progression in the sport and gives opportunities to go places riders never thought were possible. The winch allows wakeboarders to ride where boats would just not be an option. The winch also gives spectators a chance to be closer to the action. This freedom has allowed us to set up a pool on the cable lake island where riders will start. The winch will pull riders from the pool, across a rail, and into the cable lake where spectators will be waiting and watching on the beach. Only the riders will be allowed on the island, and the competitors must receive an invitation to compete due to the high level of danger involved in an event like this. The Polar Grind will be happening from 4pm - 7pm on Friday, February 24th. Donít miss out on this unique event!
Live music will follow the Polar Grind at 7pm along with the Coconut Bar & Grill providing food and drinks. Come hang out, get a bite to eat, listen to live music and enjoy being around the riders after the first day of events.
Saturday the action begins at 10am with the first of two wakeboard competitions. In a more traditional format this event will be pulled by the MasterCraft, the exclusive towboat for all TSR events. This will feature some of the top riders who have been waiting all offseason to show off their big tricks again. This will wrap up atround 2:30, and the second wakeboard competition will begin on the cable lake. In this event wakeboarders and wakeskaters are towed by the TSR cable system rather than a boat. The riders will use the rails and kickers as well as pulling tricks without the assistance of any obstacles at all. This will be the first opportunity for riders to use the brand new 120-foot double hump slider in their runs. Everything is bigger in Texas and this slider proves it. With a 30-foot gap between the humps, it will be very exciting to see what these riders can do. Look for lots of innovations on this new and unique rail brought to you by Liquid Force and TSR. Come out all day for many exciting events during the day and unwind and relax with the live music beginning at 7pm.
Come check out the new styles and fashions for the 2006 season at the Sping Fashion Show. Girls you will get to see what you need for this year and guys will get to see the babes in bikinis! Its a win-win for everyone that attends and you do not want to miss out. We will be featuring fashions from all your favorite brands.
The finals for the pro wakeboard division on the boat lake and cable lake competitions will be held on Sunday, February 26th. The action on the boat lake will begin at 1pm, followed be the cable lake at 3pm. These events will feature some of the best riders in the country and is something no one wants to miss.
We would like like to thank MasterCraft, LiquidForce, JetPilot and Under360 for their support. Without the help from these companies TSR would be unable to put on events such as FreeZride.
