On January 14, 2006, the Eleventh Annual Eskimo Escapades Shut Up & Ski! Winter water ski charity event will be held in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee at Volunteer Landing. Skiers can water ski, kneeboard, wakeboard, barefoot or tube around a half mile course towed by MasterCrafts, Malibu, Supra/Moomba or Correct Craft competition tow boats driven by members of Eskimo Escapades Foundation, Skiers of Knoxville or the University of Tennessee Water Ski Team. Skiers raise a minimum of $50 in donations to benefit two great causes – The Dream Connection which fulfills dreams of seriously ill children in East Tennessee and the Patricia Neal IRC which provides recreational opportunities to individuals with disabilities. Each skier gets a free T-Shirt designed by ET Graphics which features our Eskimos riding air chairs. There will be special prizes for individuals who raise lots of money and drawings for skiers!
After the ride, each participant can warm up in a hot tub furnished by Aurora Pools & Spas. There will also be a limited number of wet suits provided by Jet Pilot or Ski/Scuba as well as life jackets, skis and tubes for use furnished by the Patricia Neal IRC. Skiers and riders should feel free to bring their own equipment, and remember your life jacket! There will be barbecue, coffee and hot chocolate available for purchase furnished by L.B. Steele Catering, and gumbo provided by Bayou Bay & Seafood House. There will also be apparel for sale as well.
At the Shut Up & Ski! event will be one of the top wakeboarders in the world, J.D. Webb. J.D. is an eighteen year old wakeboarder from Polk City, Florida. He has competed on the Pro Wakeboard Tour for two years, and he was rookie of the year in 2004. In 2005, he finished eleventh overall at the completion of the Tour, and
This is the twelfth year of Eskimo Escapades Shut Up & Ski!, and we have donated over $200,000 to charities over the previous eleven years’ the event has been held. Eskimo Escapades is the largest winter water ski charity event in the country, and this year, we want to donate $40,000 to the two charities.
