USA and Great Britian Take 2005 World Cup Titles

The 2005 Waterski and Wakeboard World Cup series concluded with the successful HSBC Wakeboard World Cup Stop in Singapore. With world-wide Stops this year in Paris, Moscow, Dubna, Northern Ireland and Singapore, the International Waterski Federation is already well advanced in preparing for a further expansion of the World Cup series in 2006.

The 2005 Waterski World Cup series winners were announced following the Enniskillen, Northern Ireland Stop. Now that the final Wakeboard Stop has been concluded, the series winners have also now been declared.

The 2005 Pro Men World Cup Wakeboard Champion is Orlando based Rider Phillip Soven (USA). He took this title decisively by winning every Stop with style this year. At just 16 years of age, this young sensation has dominated the 2005 World Cup season from start to finish. With eleven years experience on the water, he also took the Gravity Games title this year. The 2005 World Cup Series Crystal Trophy was presented by Mr Kuno Ritschard, President of the International Waterski Federation. Second and Third places were taken by Jeff Weatherall (NZL) and Daniel Watkins (AUS).

The 2005 Pro Women World Cup Wakeboard Champion is Blackpool Rider Louise Moore (GBR). In her case, it was consistency rather than outright wins which gave her the well earned World Cup title. Training in Orlando, Florida and with six years of high level experience on the water, this has been her career highlight to date. The 2005 World Cup Series Crystal Trophy was presented to her by Ms. Wendy Lim, HSBC’s head of Country Marketing in Singapore. Second and third places were taken by Caroline Jansson (SWE) and Andrea Fountain (NZL)
