Waketoberfest and the "Under360 Grind"

Lake Austin, Texas - October 15, 2005

Time is nearing for the biggest and longest running grassroots wakeboarding event in Texas - Waketoberfest 2005! In conjunction with Waketoberfest, Under360 will hold The Under360 Grind - a pool gap contest on Lake Austin. "Our mission with Waketoberfest and The Under360 Grind is to create a fun, exciting event where Texans will be exposed to the great sport of wakeboarding and the talented riders from our state", said Val Fuller, Business Development for Under360. The company is inviting advanced riders to compete in the pool gap competition for cash, prizes, and bragging rights. Riders will also have the opportunity to be featured in Under360's second full-length DVD release.

The festivities start out with a kick-off party at Aussie's, Thursday, October 13th. There will be food catered by Aussie's and a raffle for Waketoberfest attendees.

All day Friday local boat shops will participate in a demo day. They'll bring out boats and equipment for everybody to try out. Under360 will also allow people to hit the pool gap for a nominal fee. That evening, 360 Wakeboard Club will have a premiere for a new wakeboard video "Such Is Life", produced and distributed by Sidewayz. The video premiere will take place at The Dirty Dog bar on Sixth Street.

Saturday morning kicks off a day of competitions. Waketoberfest will begin at 10am at City Park with a competition/exhibition for advanced riders (Entry fee TBA). There will be cash prizes for Best Overall and Best Fall. When the contest is over, everyone is invited to stick around for music, raffles, and activities put on by festival sponsors.

The Under360 Grind is the first contest of its kind in Austin. The preliminaries start at 4pm with participants competing to make the finals. As soon as the sun starts setting, the lights will come on and the Finals will begin. There will be two divisions in a winner-take-all format, each competing for $500.00 and bragging rights. Boardstop/Boardflix will be presenting the first prize to one of the divisions. In addition to holding the contest, Under360 will be filming for their second wake sports video, to be distributed internationally. Riders who participate in The Grind will get a shot at being included in the video.

"We've worked hard this year to put on the most successful Waketoberfest to date," said Hunter McDonald from 360 Wakeboard Club. "We expect close to two thousand people to attend this year's festival and Grind." The weekend of Waketoberfest and The Under360 Grind is going to be one of the biggest wake sports events in our state this year. This is a chance for Texans to witness some of the very best wake sports talent the sport has to offer. Come out and support the Texas wake sports scene!
