Wakeboarding Magazine and the Orlando Watersports Complex has teamed up this year to present the 3rd Annual Slider Spectacular Series.
The first of three events in the series will be held at the Orlando Watersports Complex (OWC) on Sunday, September 11th, 2005. In the past, we've had the events during the middle of the Summer but this year we decided to have them a little later in the year. The 2nd event will be on October 2nd and the series finale will be on November 5th.
This is a unique sliders only contest for wakeboarders and wakeskaters on the cable. Sliders include all the kickers, launch ramps, and rails. Basically, all of the obstacles can be used and no air tricks (corner tricks) are allowed. This format appeals to riders of all ages and skill levels. We have riders from the age of 5 up to 50 and there's a division for everyone! This year we've added a few new divisions: Groms (10 and under), Masters (28 and up), and a special Pro Outlaw division with cash prizes. The more entries we have in the Pro Outlaw division, the higher the payout. So, if you're a pro or wannabe pro, come out and show us your skillz.
Here are the divisions:
WAKEBOARD
- Groms - 10 years old and under
- Beginner - spins only, no inverts
- Intermediate - spins and 2 or less inverts
- Advanced - go all out!
- Masters - men 28 years old and up
- Open Women
- Pro Outlaw Division
WAKESKATE
- Beginner/Intermediate - 2 or less technical tricks
- Advanced
The entry fee is $35 for wakeskate or wakeboard or $50 for both. All participants will receive a Slider Spectacular t-shirt and other goodies. The entry fee for the special Pro Outlaw division is $50. The overall winner of the series will win wakeboarding gear and/or 3 and 6 month annual passes to the cable.
