KC Watersports: Liquid Force Riders Rock the Cable
KC Watersports Press Release
Liquid Force Team Riders Tino Santori, Melissa Marquardt, and Phillip Basino put on a show at the first ever "Relentless Weekend" at the KC Watersports Cable Park in Hillsdale, Kansas. Large crowds gathered both Friday and Saturday to participate in the weekend festivities. Highlights of the weekend included a slider competition and the first public viewing of "Encore", the new Liquid Force Team video.
Ryan Kent from Lee's Summit put together two impressive runs on his way to capture the title in the Intermediate Division. Jerett Adkins finished a close second, followed by Fool's Fest winner Nick Sweeney. Thirteen year-old Ryan Sanders, the youngest competitor, finished an impressive 5th.
Following the Intermediate Division, the crowd was treated to an awesome display of wakeskating. Last years Pro Tour Champion, Phillip Basino went head-to-head with, the rising super star Stefan Schriewer from the Texas Ski Ranch. The format for this event allowed both riders to be on the lake at the same time for a total of three laps. Riders were allowed to do as many tricks as they could during the session. Basio was unable to land a huge backside 360 off the large kicker, thus allowing Schriewer to take over the show. Schriewer, having the cable to himself, put on a stunning display of wakeskating.
Liquid Force Team Rider Tino Santori had two flawless runs on his way to victory in the Open Division. He was followed second by Kyle Woehler, of Saint Louis, Missouri. Third place honors went to the Texas Ski Ranch's Cody Kidder.
This event allowed local and regional riders to compete with some of the world's
best riders. When asked about the pros competing in this event, KC Watersports'
Earl Ball said "It was cool that Melissa, Tino and Phillip were willing to give
us a shot at them. You always wonder how good they really are...and I guess now I know!"
Saturday's events concluded with the Primer of "Encore". Don Wallace, Sales Manager for Liquid Force, introduced the film and shared some interesting insight regarding the filming and production of the film.
